The concept has a lot of potential, but I feel it's ruined by bad writing, especially the clunky dialogue, and bad acting. Sutherland, McElhone, Penn and Yoba are all good actors, but they have a lot of bad writing that keeps them back.Scenes that are supposed to be emotional, or triumphant, or exciting, end up being almost funny because the writing ruins it. Like the stilted and old-fashioned speeches the president holds, I guess in an attempt to seem presidential.Other examples is stuff like (paraphrased)"Any word on the search for the fugitive?""No sir the agencies are looking everywhere but there's no sign of him""Well, keep looking""I need every agency on this now! I don't care how you do it!""Mr. President I'm so honored to help you with this initiative but it will be tough because [so and so] will oppose you in Congress""Yes I know and that is why I need your help congresswoman. Funding for the arts is so important for our children's future""Thank you Mr. President, I will try to help but it won't be easy"*meeting over*It's just too much of the show telling us what's happening through cardboard characters, and no craftsmanship in the storytelling. Which annoys me because it could have been so great. At least the characters mostly have more than 1 dimension. via /r/television http://ift.tt/2v6kMmp
