Has the Mavel movie formula ruined modern filmmaking or improved it?

I'm currently undecided if the success of Marvel movies has been a good thing or a bad thing for movies. Yes they are lots of fun but they are sequel after sequel and they all play it safe. While they are great popcorn movies I wonder if they had any influence on the force awakens or jurassic world. Both were very successful but lacked heart and the epic ness of their prequels. But on the other hand I'd rather see a good movie than a bad one and the Marvel movies have been consistently good. Do you think the Marvel movies have ushered in a new era where we will see less epics like gladiator, lord of the rings and the dark knight trilogy? Or do you think they will bring the overall quality of movies up as they compete to make movies that audiences will enjoy? via /r/movies http://ift.tt/2tN1R17
