[Serious] The Shadow - should it return to the big screen?

With the recent boom in comic book movies and the genre just now starting to be taken more seriously by studios (what with more Marvel to come, more DC characters/groups in the works, comics from other lines such as Vertigo, 2000AD and Image on TV, film and future projects), I ask this:Should The Shadow and others of its ilk return? For those who don't know, The Shadow was a pulpy comic book and radio play character in the early 20th century who was a billionaire playboy and businessman by day and a crime-fighter by night, with the unique ability - after immense training in the mountains of Tibet - to "become one with the shadows".The character inspired Bob Kane and Bill Finger to create Batman and featured in an early 90s movie starring Alec Baldwin. My question is, with comic book movies exploring different time periods, as well as more guttural emotions (Man Of Steel's feeling of wanting to belong, Batman V Superman dealing with fear and rejection, Wonder Woman's commentary on the futility of war), could/should characters like The Shadow, The Phantom and even Conan The Barbarian return to the big screen?I can see how The Phantom may not work if DC decide to bring Animal Man to the big screen in some way but at the moment, we only have the Billy Zane movie to go on, just as The Shadow only has the Baldwin movie to go on. They're both pretty good characters and exist in a world not too far away from our own (Phantom in the jungles, Shadow in 1920s New York).Should they be given another chance? If so, why, and if not, why not? via /r/movies http://ift.tt/2t8zEn3
