Streaming with HBO Now just feels so unsatisfying.

I recently picked up a subscription to HBO Now so that I can watch Westworld and make sure I don't miss any episodes of Game of Thrones this season. While I love the content the actual experience of watching on the service is leaving me wanting a bit.My first concern is that the Ui just feels wonky. I can't really put into words quite why but it just feels like a hassle to actually find whichever show I'm looking for. At the very least you do have the option to simply click "series" and a whole list pops up alphabetically so you can find what you're looking for relatively quickly. I really wish Netflix offered this feature as opposed to their browsing setting.Next, when actually starting an episode, the player first buffers a ten second long screen showing the broadcast TV advisory warning. If I'm watching streaming, is this really necessary? I'm aware that what I'm about to watch contains graphic violence and nudity. That's why I'm watching it! I know that it's a legal thing to show this on TV but why do I need the reminder if it's something I'm watching online? This frustration is further compounded when the show itself actually loads. The first few minutes are taken up by an ad for a different HBO show which is inexplicably recorded into the episode itself. Why? I've already bought and paid for your service, so you don't need to advertise to me. These ads are sometimes up to three minutes long. You also can't really skip them because if you do you usually end up skipping too far into the show and having to go back. After the ad, the show intro starts. Westworld has probably my favorite intro to any show, but it's also one minute and 40 seconds long, so right off the bat in five minutes into an hour long show with no actual show. The end of each episode is also puzzling. The "next time on" bits are also included in the recording and run time of the episodes, which again doesn't make sense to include since I can just watch the next episode right then. Sure I can just skip it by playing the next episode, but again why is it even there? This bit might just be on my end, but I have had a ton of problems with the stream itself. If I ever left the show paused for whatever reason, invariably I would return to my browser having kicked me to an error screen asking me to go back to the home page. Upon clicking that link, I would find it was broken and didn't take me anywhere. Also if I had even the slightest hiccup in my bandwidth, the stream would freeze and I would be unable to reload the episode I was on. I usually had to close Chrome, log back in, and find my spot in the episode again.I really don't feel that other streaming services experience these problems. If HBO didn't have the awesome programming that they do have, I feel like nobody would use this service at all. I'm not by any means telling you not to use it, but seriously isn't there a better way to do this? via /r/television http://ift.tt/2tRuM2z
