What's the deal with Twin Peaks?

So I've reached episode 4 and I haven't figured out yet why everyone loves it, seems pretty standard, even corny at times (the scenes with the two kids in love). Sure, it's still early on and I plan to continue, but have I missed something? Is there something I should be playing close attention to? via /r/television http://ift.tt/2unCKDF
