With it's nomination this year "This is Us" scores the first nomination for any of the major broadcast networks in 6 years, and only the 4th this decade in the "Outstanding Drama Series" category.

The last nomination being "The Good Wife, Season 2" being nominated at the 2011 Emmys. The only other nominations this decade were for The Good Wife S1 and Lost S6, both at the 2010 emmys. 0 wins.It really stands testament to the state of network drama this decade has fallen so far behind in drama when they dominated in the 1990s and prior.Comparing it to their competitors: 16 for Basic Cable (4 Wins), 17 for premium cable (3 Wins), 5 for Overseas/Public Broadcast (just Downton Abbey, 0 wins), and 7 for streaming services (only since 2013, 0 wins).I haven't seen the show yet, but congratulations to This is Us/NBC for breaking the mold and beating the odds with their nom.EDIT: I will also note that while "Friday Night Lights" started off as a Network drama, and was nominated for it's final season in 2011, it's first run aired via DirecTV's 101 channel (as did the previous 2 seasons)... thus I counted that nomination in the "Basic Cable" medium.. via /r/television http://ift.tt/2vi4Uws
